Shelby Skeen
Shelby Skeen is the Graphic Designer at Northwest Nazarene University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, with a minor in Studio Art at NNU.
During her college years and before working at NNU, Shelby worked in several positions that used her artistic interests in talents. This included a graphic design internship at a local marketing firm in her hometown, serving in the Graphic Design Lead position for Journeys Outfitting Co. (NNU’s official outdoors club), serving as the Digital and Social media Coordinator at Nampa College Church of the Nazarene, countless freelance projects with clients, and (one of her favorites) teaching a summer series of art classes to local kids and adults in her hometown. Aside from design-related work, Shelby also worked at NNU’s Library/Learning Commons as a Help Desk Student Worker for 4 years—a simple job that allowed her to interact with and serve the NNU community daily.
As the Graphic Designer for the NNU marketing team, Shelby is responsible for creating all the visual graphics for the University. With her knowledge and skill in the Adobe Creative Suite, her role involves creative collaboration, and building concepts and design requests that establish the University’s brand consistency in countless areas. Whether it’s printed brochures, digital ads, campus signage, promotional posters or mail pieces, Shelby works to ensure a cohesive visual identity that reaches our target audiences and reflects the University culture.

Shelby’s primary strengths are designing layouts, applying colors and typography and design elements where needed, and delivering visual solutions. She also dabbles in photography.
Outside of work, Shelby enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family. She loves coffee shop visits, watching movies, exploring new music, and making art—from oil painting to film photography and every craft in between. Shelby was born and raised in Washington, so she has a deep love and admiration for the beautiful Pacific Northwest and spending time outdoors. She finds herself often enjoying God’s creation by hiking, camping, biking, paddle boarding, and exploring National Parks.
